Pinehurst Club Breakfast

The Pinehurst Club brings together corporate sponsors, business leaders, donors, students, volunteers and special guests to help raise funds to assist in covering the administrative costs for Sleeping Children Around the World, which allows 100% of all bedkit donations to positively impact children in developing countries.

Join us on Friday May 8th for the Pinehurst Club breakfast at the Fairmont Royal York. We are happy to report that “One Clap” Neil Aitchison will be returning for his 15th year as our Master of Ceremonies, helping to keep the program moving while entertaining the guests.

Our keynote speaker is David Connolly, the Artistic Director of Drayton Entertainment, one of Canada’s leading not-for-profit theatre companies, and a passionate advocate for disability inclusion. In 2024, he received the inaugural Canadian Actors’ Equity Change Maker Award and is proud to be the first amputee to have performed on Broadway.

Our Volunteer Speaker is Teegan Nordstrom who became involved with Sleeping Children Around the World as our very first Student Grant recipient. Through this initiative, she travelled to Tanzania, where she supported a bedkit distribution and developed a framework for measuring the program’s impact in greater depth.

Sleep Day

As a sleep researcher, clinician and public health advocate, who believes passionately in the value of a good night’s sleep for children’s health, well-being and success, I celebrate the incredible work of Sleeping Children Around the World. I have been fortunate enough to see the real and tangible impact this organization makes on children and families’ lives as a Traveling Volunteer in Tanzania and India, and cannot say enough good things about their dedication and drive.
— Dr. Judith A. Owens, Senior Faculty, Centre for Pediatric Sleep Disorders; Professor of Neurology, Harvard Medical School

Have fun and raise awareness of the importance of healthy sleep by going to school or work in your pyjamas!

We encourage you to create a fun Sleep Day event at your school or work, with each person’s $2 (student) or $5 (corporate) donation supporting the purchase of bedkits for children living in challenging conditions in a developing country. 100% of your Sleep Day donation will provide bedkits for children, nurturing hope, joy and healthy sleep!

To support a country's local economy, bedkits are created in the country of distribution, and include important items integral to a child's wellbeing. Each $40 donation provides one bedkit consisting of: mat or mattress and bedding, mosquito net to prevent malaria, school supplies and clothing. Bedkit contents vary from country to country depending upon local needs.

The Sleep Education Resources (.pdf) and downloadable resources on our Pinterest page are available to help with your planning. Your participation is a simple yet impactful way to give children in equity-seeking communities a chance to thrive in challenging conditions.

Volunteer Locally (Toronto Office)

Based in Toronto’s west end, office volunteers support day-to-day operations by processing donations, mailing tax receipts and photos, and contributing to special project committees. New volunteers are always welcome.
