Sleeping Children Around the World has helped more than 1.9 million children in 36 countries experience healthy sleep through the gift of a bedkit.

Every child is photographed with their bedkit, and the photo is then mailed to the donor.

Income Tax Receipts for bedkit donations are emailed within one week if the donation was made online, or mailed as quickly as possible if by post.

Acknowledgement Cards for special occasion donations are sent as soon as possible.

For Special Occasion Donations, specify the occasion and the name/address of the gift recipient.

If you wish, specify custom wording for labels and/or specify the name/address for pictures to be mailed elsewhere.

In compliance with strict privacy policies, Sleeping Children Around the World is not allowed to take credit card information over the phone.

Volunteer to Travel

Travel Volunteers support our Overseas Volunteer Partners in the distribution of the bedkits. When Sleeping Children Travel Volunteers travel overseas, they do so at their own expense and without benefit of a tax receipt.

Travel Volunteers have a number of duties, including:

Educating themselves prior to travel in order to be respectful of the country’s culture, history and the effects of colonialism
Learning, unlearning, listening
Working alongside our Overseas Volunteer Partners in the distributing of bedkits
Learning the impact of the bedkit from conversations with the community members, families and children
Visiting cottage industries and manufacturers of bedkit items
Reviewing financial records to account for 100% of bedkit funds
Following Sleeping Children’s photography policy when taking photos of the children
Verify that each bedkit is received by a child in need
Review quality and appropriateness of bedkit items
Treat every child we help with dignity, and make the distribution as joyful an experience as possible

Volunteer in the Office

Office volunteers work out of the Sleeping Children Around the World office located in the west end of Toronto. They help with daily business affairs, process donations, issue tax receipts and organize and mail photos to donors. Volunteers are also involved with committee work and various project initiatives. We all work together to build our global community. New volunteers are always welcome.
