SCAW BLOG: SIERRA LEONE, 2026: OCTOBER 20
Today was our team’s first distribution in Sierra Leone. On our drive to the village, we were met with some rain, but the people of Sierra Leone have a creative solution to that! Lucky for us, the skies cleared in time for us to arrive at the distribution site.
Four schools met us at the distribution site, with students already lined up and ready to go by the time we arrived! With the help of the principals, teachers, and 15 other volunteers, we were able to hand out 500 bedkits in just a couple hours.
We ended off our distribution day by visiting the cottage industry where the bedsheets included in the bedkits were sewn. It was a special chance to see a little more of the work and local craftsmanship that goes into making these bedkits possible.
And of course, Norma had to indulge in some fresh coconut water just outside the shop!
We’re already looking forward to another distribution tomorrow and can’t wait to see what the next day brings. Stay tuned for more adventures from Sierra Leone!
