A Worthwhile TripChris Dryden — Murray & Margaret's great grandson, age 10 I was so excited when my parents gave me the news that I would be able to join my grandparents on a distribution trip to Pune. It gave me new insights into the world around us and the way this charity helps to improve our world. One of the extra bonuses of this trip was the fact I could spend time with some of my relatives while helping the children of India. It was great to see where my great grandfather started this charity and it gave me a good feeling that we could come back to see his dream come true. I also gained a great insight into how amazing this charity is and hopefully I will be able to help when we reach another goal of two million bedkits.
Even though some of the days were quite long and tiresome, it all paid off in the end when you saw the looks on the children’s faces as they received their bedkits. Some of the ways I was able to help in the distribution was by working with the children, lining them up in the correct order, leading them to the bedkits after the photos, and giving them caps while waving goodbye. We thought it was funny when they drew red dots on our foreheads to help us blend in with their culture and welcome us to their village. Even with the dot on my forehead, I still couldn’t blend in with my fair skin and long blond hair. It was amazing trip to go on and I can’t wait until I am asked to help out again. It was well worth all the extra shots and homework assignments to prepare for this trip. |
