Mother to MotherNancy Loveless — Collingwood, ON
You experience many universal human emotions as you travel the world. During this trip with Sleeping Children Around the World I made one of the most inspiring connections with other mothers and grandmothers. This became most apparent this year because I had the opportunity to interview mothers of some of the bedkit recipients. As I was asking one mother about the quality and usefulness of the bedkit items our eyes met and immediately we connected on another level. We connected as mothers.
She told me she was so happy that her daughter would have a chance for a better life by receiving a bedkit. She was a widowed mother of four children and she asked if she could hug me. At that powerful moment we were no longer travelling volunteer and recipient. We were two mothers from different ends of the world embracing with hopes and dreams for our children. |
