Hello and welcome to our first E-Letter using our new Mail List
system. (The link at the very bottom of this message lets you change
your subscription information.)
November is a busy month as the SCAW office prepares for the holiday
season. With online donations and additional mailings coming in,
volunteers working in shifts are kept busy five days a week as they
enter donations and send out tax receipts. Anyone wishing to make a
donation is encouraged to send it in early. Our online donations have
increased significantly every year since we first started taking
credit card donations via PayPal in 2005.
Following the Information Session in late September for prospective
volunteers, this month has seen interviews held for those interested
in becoming Travel Volunteers. Eleven people have expressed interest
in continuing the process to become travellers for Sleeping Children.
The last Saturday in November, (the 29th) is the date of a benefit
concert for Sleeping Children being held at St. James Cathedral, 69
Church Street, Toronto, 5-7 p.m. Admission is $10 and if you are in
the Toronto area, we would love to have you join us. You will also be
able to buy the new SCAW 2009 calendar at this event. Our calendar
shows children who have received bedkits fron SCAW donors in the past
year and celebrates that in 2009 we will reach our millionth child.
When you buy the calendar at the concert or from the SCAW office the
entire $20 you pay for the calendar will be used to buy bedkits for
children in developing countries thanks to Lynette Jenkins who has
sponsored the printing of the calendar in memory of her mother, Renée
Dorothy Jarman. You can see what the calendar looks like at the
LULU.COM website. SCAW receives $5 for all calendars bought on the
Lulu website:

E-Letter, feel free to forward it to them.
